Frank Glen Griffin

Frank G. Griffin, age 79 of Hammond passed away July 4, 2026 at Hammond Health Services.

Frank was born May 30, 1947 to James L. Griffin and Dorothy (Fox) Griffin in Milwaukee, WI.

Frank attended South Division High School and graduated from Milwaukee Scholl of Engineering. He was drafted right after High School and served in the Army as a supply clerk in Vietnam. Frank contracted epilepsy which made some people afraid to be near him. Later he contracted cancer from agent orange exposure.

He worked for Milwaukee Water Works and was Superintendent of south Milwaukee Water Utility.

Frank married Lyla on May 30, 1992. He always said he cannot forget his anniversary. Frank & Lyla raised buffalo in Woodville for over 15 years. They have many fond memories of round up with friends and lots of stories about the buffalo.

Frank will be dearly missed by his wife Lyla, daughter Amy (J.J.) Jackson; grandson Logan Mailandt; 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents James & Dorothy Griffin; his uncle Raymond Martiny, who received the Purple Heart for his heroism at the Battle of the Bulge; and a favorite Aunt Mary who he helped with catering.

Visitation 1-2 Pm with Mass of Christian Burial 2 PM Friday July 10 at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1265 Ridgeway St. Hammond. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
