Gary Snell Williamson, age 83, of Hudson, WI, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025, at Pine Ridge Assisted Living.
Gary was born on Father’s Day, June 12, 1942, in Worthington, Minnesota, to Jay and Phyllis Williamson. He grew up in Milltown, Wisconsin, graduating from Amery High School in 1960. Shortly after, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. While home on leave in 1966, Gary met the love of his life, Synnove Anderson, and the two were married on July 1, 1967.
Following his service, Gary began a long and successful career with 3M. His work provided opportunities to travel the world, something he cherished—not for the destinations alone, but for the people he met, the cultures he experienced, and the relationships he built. Gary had an extraordinary gift for connection, and those relationships brought him great joy throughout his life.
Anyone who knew Gary also knew his love for golf. He had an impressive game, but remained humble and never boastful. A highlight came in 1994 when his team competed in the Oldsmobile Scramble National Finals in Orlando FL, one of 20 teams, an experience he treasured. Beyond the greens, Gary was a devout member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he helped teach Sunday School, sang in the choir, volunteered with “We Do Feet,” and looked for ways to live out his faith in service to others.
Above all, Gary was a devoted family man. He loved his role as “Grandpa” and took immense pride in his children and grandchildren, always their biggest supporter.
Gary will be deeply missed by his wife of 58 years, Synnove Williamson; children Earl Williamson, Joy (Brian) Sikes, Matt Williamson, and Erin (Rick) Hess; grandchildren Synnove Ann Williamson, Andrea Williamson, Ian Hess, Ethan Hess, Kris Hess (Isaiah Sonnefeld), Erik Hess (Leah Walker), Ashley (Mikey) Conlon, Brendan Sikes, Elise Sikes, Mary Sikes, Jared Sikes, and Rose Sikes. Great grandchildren Eli and Finian. Brother David (Gayle) Williamson, and nephews Kyle, Peter & Jonathan (Shyla).
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joan Williamson, and his parents, Jay and Phyllis Williamson.
A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hudson on Friday, October 3, 2025. Visitation will be from 10-11am with a service to follow at 11am.
Special thank you to Ping Ridge and Lakeview Hospice for their loving care.
