Genevieve Tancheff Hafner passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019, at her home with family. Genevieve was born in Minneapolis, MN on November 7, 1925 to Kitcha and Sotier Tancheff. Geni graduated from West High School in Minneapolis, class of 1944 and attended the University of Minnesota for two years. Geni was united in marriage to Albert Hafner in 1947 and together had three children. Sadly their marriage would later dissolve. She always worked in the family businesses but most notably for Hafner Properties. Her last real estate project, at age 75, was building Willow River Apartments in North Hudson. Geni loved art and would regularly take her children to museums and even directed school plays. She is remembered for her celebrations at her home on the St. Croix River, especially for the 4thof July. Geni was generous throughout her life and was willing to help anyone she could.

She will remain in the hearts of her children, Michele (Bernard) Drevnick of Hudson, WI, Michael (Jean) Hafner of Little Canada, MN, and Mark Hafner of Hudson, WI; grandchildren Jenny (Jeffrey) Yelle, Alicia (Daniel) Hartle, Paul (Kate) Drevnick, Julie (Steven) Methner, John Hafner (Julie Noreen), and Craig Hall; thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; sister Helen Gronberg and brother John Tancheff, along with many other extended family members and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial for Geni will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 4, 2019 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hudson. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 3-6 pm at O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson as well as one hour prior to mass at church on Monday. Memorials are preferred to Hudson Library, Phipps Center For the Arts, Daniel Drevnick Memorial Fund or St. Patrick Catholic Church.
