Gerald William Whipple, age 87, of Prescott, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025.
Gerald, affectionately known as “Jerry,” was born on November 2, 1937, to John and Maybelle Whipple in Prescott, where he spent his entire life building a lasting legacy rooted in family, hard work, and community.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Jerry cherished his family above all else. He worked at Red Wing Shoe Company for an incredible 46 years, a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment. Outside of work, Jerry found great joy in the outdoors—especially in hunting and fishing. Annual trips to Canada for walleye fishing became treasured traditions, which he later shared with his grandchildren, creating memories that will live on for generations. Whether it was casting a line or telling stories around a campfire, Jerry made every moment count with those he loved.
Above all, Jerry's heart belonged to his beloved wife, Sharon. Their many travels together and the love they shared were the foundation of his life. His devotion to her was unwavering, and he gave her his heart every day they were together.
Jerry is survived by his loving daughters, Darla (Jeff) Hansen and Wanda Volenec; grandchildren, Jeremy (Xiomara), and Marissa; and great-grandchildren, Skyler, Ethan, Abigail, and James. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sharon, and his grandson Brian.
