Gregory Laurence Vier, age 68, of Baldwin, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026, at his home in Hudson, surrounded by his girls.

Born on June 25, 1957, in Baldwin to Laurence and Madolyn Vier, Greg grew up with a strong sense of loyalty, service, and family; values that would guide him throughout his life. In 1975, he began what would become nearly 24 years of dedicated service in the United States Air Force. During his military career, he earned numerous honors, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, and the Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon. He also completed extensive military education and earned his associate’s degree, achievements he took great pride in.

While stationed in Germany, Greg met the love of his life, Anke, and the two were united in marriage on January 30, 1980. Their marriage was a true partnership; steadfast, loving, and filled with devotion that endured across decades, continents, and every chapter of their lives together.

Greg was a natural storyteller, often opening conversations with his signature line: “Let me tell you a story.” His love language was acts of service, expressed through quiet, steady gestures that spoke louder than words. He was the neighbor who snowplowed the entire cul-de-sac without being asked, the father who made sure groceries were waiting when his daughters came home, and the friend who showed up, always, when someone needed a hand. Social, protective, and endlessly generous, Greg lived his life with a heart oriented toward others.

He cherished his family above all else. He was deeply proud of his years in service, fiercely loyal to his country, and an enthusiastic Green Bay Packers fan. His greatest joy came from time spent with his grandchildren, Vincent, Dominic, and Reya, who brought him immeasurable happiness and pride. Greg was happiest when he was helping, moving, doing, and caring. He lived with purpose and gave of himself freely.

Greg is survived by his loving wife, Anke Vier; daughters, Jennifer Vier (Brian White) Freeman and Barbara Vier (Jack) Laughnan; grandchildren, Vincent, Dominic, and Reya; sisters, Linda (Tom) Fenton, Lori (Ted) Dutcher, Karen (Bruce) Diamond, and Kay (David) Anderson; brother, Douglas (Linda) Vier; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence and Madolyn Vier, and his brother, Gary Vier.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m., at O’Connell Funeral Home in Baldwin, Wisconsin. Burial will follow at Hammond Cemetery.
