Hattie Florence Wagner, age 95, of North Hudson, WI, passed away on June 4, 2014 at her home in North Hudson.
Hattie was born on April 3, 1919 in Elstow, Canada, the daughter of Spencer and Mary (McLean) Porter. She grew up in Roberts, WI and graduated from Warren Union High School in Roberts. On January 18, 1945, she was united in marriage to Robert Martin Wagner in Stillwater, MN. Their marriage would be blessed with five children: Robert, Valerie, Denice, William, and Dennis. During World War II, Hattie worked at United Refrigeration Company as a phone clerk. She also clerked at Dime stores. However, for most of her life, Hattie worked as a cook at Hudson Junior High.
Hattie was an avid cook, cooking both professionally and for her family. If she didn’t have a recipe off the top of her head, she could look through the litany of cookbooks she collected, as she loved to read through them to get ideas. She enjoyed participating in North Hudson Pepper Fest. She loved sewing, crocheting, and knitting – making pajamas, Halloween costumes, dresses, and aprons for her family and friends. You knew Hattie loved you as she never missed a special occasion, anniversary, or birthday by sending you a greeting card. Although she may have been strong willed and independent, she was always thinking of others and willing to do anything for you.
She is survived by her children: Robert J. (Diana) Wagner of Hudson, WI, Valerie J. Strukel of Eveleth, MN, and Denice K. (Dennis) Anderson of Hudson, WI; daughter-in-law, Geri Wagner of Stillwater, MN; grandchildren: Kimberly (Dan) Wiseman, Heather (Eric) Wanek, Rolf Hagland, Tate (Amy) Hagland, Denton (Muffi) Anderson, Nate (Carly) Wagner, Shane (Megan) Wagner, Blair Wagner, and Billy Wagner; great-grandchildren: Sadie, Jaxon, Cooper, Cole, Cameron, Ava, Riley, Quentin, Brayden, Dennis, Robert, Willy, and Everly; and sister-in-law, Kathleen Porter of Hudson, WI
Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; infant son, Dennis; son, William Wagner; sister, Esther Simpson; and brother, Spencer Porter.
