Irene Cordelia Krummel passed away peacefully with family by her side at Hudson Hospital on Monday, February 10, 2020. She was born at home in Gilman Township, Pierce County WI, to Henry and Tillie Walz on May 27, 1922. She married Marvin C. Hanson in 1943 and to this union they were blessed with 3 children. Sadly, Marvin died in September 1962. Irene married Alvin P. Krummel in September 1963. Together they owned and operated the Krummel Group Home in Ellsworth. Irene lovingly cared for many elderly residents for many years. She was known for her excellent cooking, always fresh brewed coffee and good homemade pie. She loved being with family, especially grandchildren. Irene knew Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She moved to Assisted Living memory care in 2002, and currently resided at Comforts of Home in River Falls.
Preceding her in death are her parents, both husbands, infant daughter, son Kenneth M. Hanson in 1998, siblings Randolph Walz, Mae Sebion, Gladys Schulte, Doris Cormican, Dale Walz, Joyce Bauer, Ronald Walz.
Irene will be greatly missed by many; daughter, Betty Hennings of Wichita Kansas; daughter in-law Gloria Hanson of Hudson, WI; 4 grandchildren; Dan (Carolyn) Hennings, Joel (Jessica) Hennings, Jeff (Brianne) Hanson, Sonia (Erik) Peterson, 3 great grandchildren, Jeffrey Jr. and Josh Hanson; Leif Peterson and baby girl Peterson on the way; sister Elaine Huppert of Ellsworth, WI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service for Irene will be 11:00 a.m., Friday February 14, 2020 at O’Connell-Benedict Funeral Home, Ellsworth, WI. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Our Saviors Lutheran Cemetery, Beldenville WI.
