Irene Dorothy Hilden

Age 94, of Ellsworth, WI died Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Kinnic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, River Falls, WI.Irene was born on November 13, 1919 in the town of Trimbelle, Pierce County, WI, the daughter of Albert and Martha (Bengston) Johnson. She grew up in rural Ellsworth and attended Ellsworth Schools. Irene married Marcus Hilden on October 22, 1938 at the Bethel Mission Covenant parsonage. She worked for many years at the Red Wing Shoe Company, retiring in 1984.Irene was an active member of the Bethel Covenant Church, she volunteered at the Ellsworth Care Center and made quilts for the Union Gospel Mission in St. Paul. Most of all Irene loved to entertain in her home and socialize with her family and many friends.Irene is survived by her two daughters: Beverly (Don) Melstrom, Durand, WI and Carole (Gary) Kruger, River Falls, WI. She is further survived by seven grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, two sisters in-law and nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.Preceding Irene in death was her husband Marcus in 2008, a grandson Travis Boyd, parents, four brothers and two sisters.Hill Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Ellsworth, WI is serving the family.
