Irene Shirley Haugrose

Irene “Shirley” Haugrose, 88, of Falls Church, Virginia and Yuma, Arizona died in her home in Falls Church on May 6, 2016. Shirley was born on March 31, 1928 to Orin and Bessie (Dell) Haugrose. She graduated from Hudson (Wisconsin) high school and attended college at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls.

Shirley worked for the United States State Department in foreign services for many years. Her mother, Bess, accompanied Shirley at various posts throughout the world. In her retirement she continued to travel and enjoy fellowship with friends in the Washington, D. C. area and her winter home in Yuma, Arizona.

She is survived by cousins, Evelyn (Haugrose) Carlstrom and Lars Haugrose of Red Wing, Minnesota, Velma Jean Wilbur of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Boyd Haugrose of Belt, Montana, and many friends throughout the country.

A memorial service will be held in on Sunday, June 12 at the Hill Funeral Chapel in Ellsworth, Wisconsin at 2 pm. Burial will follow the service at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Beldenville, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Beldenville, Wisconsin, Faith Lutheran Church in Arlington, Virginia or Calvary Lutheran Church in Yuma, Arizona.
