Janet Ruth Schneider

Janet Schneider passed away on September 27, 2026, at the age of 85. 

Janet devoted fourteen years as a member of the homemaker’s club in Eveleth, where her warmth and creativity enriched the lives of those around her. She enjoyed knitting, macrame, and sewing. With a keen eye for beauty, she collaborated with Cindy Paulson to start Tulips & Treasures, a flower shop that was a haven for floral artistry and connection. 

Janet graduated from Ladysmith High School and furthered her education at college in River Falls. She was a true artisan, always creating something beautiful and unique, and her love for artsy projects filled her home with love and color. 

Janet had a special affinity for her furry friends, and she opened her heart and home to many stray dogs throughout her life, including her loyal companion, Teddy. She found joy in the little things—a nightly brandy with Diet Pepsi, breakfast at Kozy Korner, and brunch outings with her husband became cherished rituals. The simple pleasures, such as taking drives to admire the scenic views and indulging in her favorite key lime pie and chocolates, brought her immense happiness. 

A lover of music, Janet often found herself lost in the timeless tunes of Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond, and Jimmy Buffet, with her favorite color—purple—often reflecting her vibrant personality. Janet was remembered as spicy, full of life and laughter, and someone who could light up a room with her presence. 

Janet is survived by her children, Dan Schneider, Mindy Fisher (John Monzel), Jennifer Schneider; grandchildren Zach (Lili), Brooke, Morgan & Isabelle; great-grandson Harrison; brother David (Sandi) Whitmore; caregiver Isabel (David) Alcott.

She was preceded in death by her former spouse Sheldon, parents Ruth & Russell Whitmore. 

Visitation 2-3 PM with 3 PM Memorial Service Friday October 9 at O’Connell Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St. Hudson. Inurnment Willow River Cemetery.
