Jasmine Lynn Petersen passed away on November 3, 2023, after a heartbreaking, long battle with depression. Jasmine was 18 years old, and tragically took her own life at Homestead Parklands on Perch Lake, WI. Jasmine was born on March 18, 2005, in Woodbury, Minnesota. She was the first-born child to her parents, Beau and Natalie, the first grandchild and the first niece on both sides of the family. At the age of 2 Jasmine’s family built their home in Hammond, Wisconsin where she has lived ever since. Jasmine graduated with honors from St. Croix Central High School on May 26, 2023, and had just begun college at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UWRF) with plans to become a veterinarian. She was also coaching at the goalie practices and for the Peewee and Bantam boy’s hockey teams for the Blackhawk Hockey Association. Jasmine worked the past few years at Good Go Ing (a Pro Training center, hunting club and boarding center) where she cared for dozens of dogs and hundreds of game birds; as well as, helping train and breed dogs. She finished her internship at a local veterinary clinic and had high hopes of one day having her own veterinary clinic with a ranch full of dogs and animals. Jasmine had an immense love for dogs, and in fact most animals. She had an innate ability to calm the toughest breed of dog, and animals just responded to her in a way that was uncanny. Jasmine also had a passion for hockey and from day one wanted to be a goalie.
She played as a young girl for the Blackcats and then the girls Fusion team in high school. She held herself to a very high standard, was never afraid of a challenge and did not want to be cheered on or recognized for her accomplishments. She would stoically skate onto the ice and ignore the cheers from her parents, grandparents, and family. Jasmine practiced hard, held true to her sport, and strove to become the best player she could be. Jasmine stood strong for her teammates and encouraged those around her who struggled. She was the best goalie around and gave her all to her sport. When she felt her dream of playing college hockey might not be fulfilled, she took to coaching to work with younger players to help them achieve their dream.
Jasmine was the most beautiful and complex soul. She was hands down the most intelligent, responsible, and witty person anyone could have the pleasure of meeting. Her smile was the most beautiful and contagious. Her list of accomplishments is a mile long, but she would never tell you that. Jasmine was humble but also never saw what we her family, friends and those that knew her saw – a beautiful, talented, wise, smart, loyal, kind, hard-working, fascinating, and amazing girl who shined far brighter than she would ever give herself credit for.
Jasmine was always the resource for information, no matter what the question was. She knew so much about so many things and was truly wise beyond her years. She was compassionate. She stood up for things that she did not feel were right. Jasmine loved camping, hiking, fishing, hunting and anything outdoors or in nature.
We love her immensely, and there is a hole in our hearts that will never heal. Our family is completely devastated by her passing. There is a brokenness in our hearts that will last forever. As her family writes a bright light is now dimmed, and the universe is missing a star. Jasmine was our gift from heaven, and in the truest sense symbolized the jasmine flower, which is often a small, unassuming white flower that blooms at night with a beautiful and powerful scent that is gorgeous, complex, and delicate all at once.
Jasmine is survived by her parents, Beau and Natalie, her brother Ashton, and her sister Aurora. She leaves behind her beloved Siberian Huskies, Sakari, Miska and Tikaani. Jasmine’s grandparents are Lynn and Ruthanne (Poore) Randall and Jeannie Provo-Petersen and Frank Petrino. She leaves her grieving uncles and aunts: Brandon (Corbin) Randall, Courtney (Brandon) Wisdom, Nathan (Hannah) Randall, Tyler Randall, and Drew (Elly, deceased) Petersen. Jasmine is also mourned and missed greatly by her cousins Trinity, Ariel, and Leo Petersen, Harlow and Everly Randall, Olivia Wisdom, and Elowyn Randall.
Jasmine was preceded in death by her grandfather Lance Petersen, and her great grandparents on both sides of her family.
