Jeanne Emerson

Jeanne Emerson, age 86, of Spring Valley died Sunday evening at the Spring Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center.  Funeral service is Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Spring Valley.  Visitation will be on Thursday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Jeanne Barbara Emerson, age 86 of Spring Valley, Wisconsin died Sunday evening, June 17, 2012 at the Spring Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Jeanne was born June 4, 1926, the daughter of Kleber and Geneva (Gullixrud) Halling in Red Wing, Minnesota.  She grew up in Red Wing and graduated from Red Wing High School with the class of 1944.  She attended the University of Minnesota where she met Gordon Emerson.  They were married January 8, 1949 at Adams, Minnesota.  The lived in Memphis, Warwick, Rhode Island, and Waukegan, Illinois before buying a house from Ralph Gavic and  settling on  the farm where she spent the rest other life.  She loved to golf, bowl, shop and have coffee with the "girls", and her "hair day" every Tuesday with Peg.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Gordon; and infant sister Shirley Halling.
Survivors include 2 sons: Bill and Bob Emerson, both of Spring Valley; many friends and distant relatives.
Funeral service was on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Spring Valley with Rev. Erin Nelson officiating, and Linda Anderson as organist.  Visitation was on Thursday for one hour prior to the the service.  Pallbearers were Dennis Hughes, Tony Place, Toby Vorlicek, Peg Vorlicek, and Matt Flynn.  Burial was in St. John's Lutheran, Spring Valley, Wisconsin.
