Jeannette A. Simon, age 99, died just days before her 100th birthday on October 10, 2025 at Kinnic Health and Rehab in River Falls, Wisconsin. Jeannette was born on October 16, 1925, in Hudson, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Mary (Baar) Fasbender. She attended grade school and graduated from River Falls. She furthered her education by receiving her nurse’s aide certificate.
During this time, she met her soulmate, Raymond Simon. The two exchanged vows on June 27, 1945, at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in River Falls. Their union blessed them with ten children. Being a wife and mother was first and foremost in her heart and she loved every moment of it. Outside of caring for her family, Jeannette worked as a nurse’s aide for Hilleren Nursing Homes.
Jeannette appreciated life’s simple pleasures and the beauty that surrounded her. She enjoyed tending to her flower beds and always made sure her feathered friends were cared for especially her beloved cardinals! Ray was an avid fisherman, and Jeannette happily joined him on their trips to Canada or while “tooling around” on Balsam Lake catching panfish. The old adage that she could “feed an army” was quite literally true. Her cooking and baking could have filled a restaurant, and the smell of her homemade bread was always a welcome sign to visitors. When she could slip away, she cherished coffee time with her friends.
Jeannette is survived by her children Raymond (Virginia) Simon, Sandra (Gary) Schommer, Sue (Terry) Malmer, Debra (Rollie) Johnson, Sherry (Scott) Peters, and Patrick (Marilyn) Simon; Daughter-in-law Lorri Simon; brother Albert (Joanne) Madsen Jr.; over one-hundred grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Raymond; children Nancy Mueller, David Simon, Judy Graetz, Daniel Simon; stillborn daughter Violet Marie; and siblings Renee, Violet, LaVerne, Howard, and Theodore.
Jeannette lived nearly a century filled with love, laughter, and faith. She found joy in the everyday in her garden, at her kitchen table, and surrounded by the family she so deeply loved. Her legacy will continue to shine in the lives she nurtured and the memories she created.
Visitation will be at St. Bridget's Catholic Church River Falls on October 16, 2025 at 11:00 AM with a Funeral Service following at 12:00 PM. Interment will be at 2:15 PM at St Bridget Catholic Cemetery.
