It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of Jerome (Jerry) Severson's peaceful passing. He left us at the Kinnic Nursing & Rehab in River Falls, Wisconsin on October 26, 2025.
Jerry was born March 7, 1936 to Floyd and Margaret (Dixon) Severson in Prescott, Wisconsin. Jerry loved his small home town and this is where he and his wife, Rose raised their 4 daughters.
Jerry was a dedicated member of the American Legion Post 61 and the VFW. He proudly served in the Minnesota National Guard. From there enlisted into the Navy, later the Reserves and then volunteered as a civil defense worker for the City of Prescott.
His devotion to service included holding the position of a PFC E-3 of the 135th Infantry Regiment on the USS Taconic. On his leave from duty, he married Rose Gabbert on October 27, 1956. From that union they were blessed with four daughters; Jaci (Greg) Kosin, Jeanie Severson, Jodi (Joe) Schmidt and Julie (Mark) Magee. 8 grandchildren: Eric Severson, Annie (Dusty) Schommer, Bud (Kelley) Kosin, Abby Kosin, Michael (Ann Marie) Magee, Joe Bougie, Katie (Casey) Kroll and Anna (Carl) Lentz. 14 great grandchildren: Bradley, Whitney and Mason Schommer, Cayden, Caleb, Camden and Evy Kroll, Ethan Kosin, Lily Raymond, Maddy and Joey Magee, Chae and Clay Bougie and Adalee Lentz.
Together they celebrated nearly 70 years of love and companionship. They were avid golfers, and loved to boat on the “GabbyRose”. Jerry retired from 3M and he and Rose enjoyed wintering in Labelle, Florida and summers at their lake home on Big McKenzie in Spooner, Wisconsin. Returning to Prescott full time, they, together with family were proud community members and were Grand Marshall's for Prescott Daze for their volunteer work and dedication with the American Legion Post 61 placing the American Flags on the gravesites of area Prescott Veterans in all 3 cemeteries. Pine Glenn, St. Josephs and Oak Grove.
Jerry is also survived by his siblings Donnie Severson of Prescott, Dianne (Fred) Haverlandt of Diamond Bluff and Web (Denise) Severson of Prescott. Sister in laws: Deb and Joyce Gabbert: brother-in-law Bob Gabbert and many nieces and nephews that cherished their many visits with Uncle Jerry.
Jerry is preceded in death by his eldest daughter Jaci, his parents Floyd and Margaret, in-laws Walter and Emma Gabbert. Sister Norma Cook, sister-in-law Donna Hakseth, Joanne Gabbert, Marcy Gabbert and Joy Severson. Brother-in-law and best friend Ivan Haskseth, Dick Gabbert and Duane Cook.
