Jerome (Jerry) Robert Stransky, passed away January 26th, 2026, at the age of 84. He was born to parents Myles & Lucille on December 27th, 1941, in St. Paul, MN. Jerry's spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew him, particularly his beloved wife, Barbara, who was the light of his life and his partner through every adventure.

Jerry had a profound love for nature, immersing himself in the beauty of the outdoors and developing a special passion for bird watching. He possessed an extraordinary ability to identify bird species by their songs, a testament to his deep connection with the environment. This love extended into his professional life, where he expertly captured the essence of nature and life through his photography. As the owner of a wedding studio and a commercial photographer, Jerome skillfully documented countless moments, ensuring they would live on in the memories of those he served. His creativity knew no bounds; with the purchase of a bucket truck, he captured breathtaking views of the fields, transforming them into stunning works of art featured in calendars, stationery, sweatshirts, and t-shirts.

Jerry's talents weren't limited to photography; he also worked as a limo driver, relishing the joy of providing clients with memorable experiences. Among his favorite moments was working with the incomparable Target dog and his handler, a testament to his unique knack for connecting with others. He had a special affinity for dogs as he had lived with them all his married life and could often be seen snuggling with one on the couch or throwing the ball endlessly outside in the meadow. Though Jerry’s first hobby was birds, there was one he could have done without. Jerry had met his wife in Honduras while Barbara was on a student project in the jungle and he was returning from a visit in Costa Rica. He was carrying his cameras and she was bringing Puchica, a parrot, back with her. They met at the gate, he copied her name off her suitcase in St. Paul, and two years later, they were married. Puchica never did like Jerry who had a couple of scars to show for it.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Barbara; daughter Kelly; grand-daughter, Alexandra; great grand-daughter, Athena; in-laws Jason, Steve & Judy; plus, many extended relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myles Stransky and Lucille Corson; and sister, Charlotte Lucero.

A Memorial Service in Jerry's honor will be held on Thursday, February 5th, 11am, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 14107 Hudson Rd S, Afton, MN, with an hour visitation before the service. A luncheon will follow the service, where we can reflect on the joy and warmth Jerome brought into our lives. Let us remember him not just for his artistry and skills but for the gentle nature and laughter that endeared him to all. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the songs of the birds he so loved.
