At the age of 81, Joan E. Fleischhacker of Stillwater, MN, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, peacefully passed away on December 2nd, 2025, to join the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Martin, parents, Edward and Estelle Smolik, sister Jaqueline Walker, brother Richard, sister-in-law Mary, brother in-law Gerald, son Matthew, and daughter Michelle Fleischhacker. She is survived by her sons Martin(June) Fleischhacker and Michael(Kelly) Fleischhacker; daughter Melissa(Troy) Moris; granddaughters Haley(Devon) and Carly; grandsons Austin(Shanelle), Seth, Luke, Hunter, and Evan; great-granddaughter Everly; great-grandson Easton; and niece Carol.

Joan attended Harding High School. Following graduation, getting married and starting a family, she worked at Gould Battery. She later worked as a plant Engineer and obtained a Class C High Pressure Boilers License. She worked on high and low boiler pressure systems at Maple Island and The Original Territorial Prison in Stillwater, MN. She worked as a Plant Engineer and boiler operator for the State of Minnesota at several locations. She later attended Metropolitan State University graduating with a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Biological Sciences. She retired after providing 24 years of excellent service to the Minnesota Department of Administration and the State of Minnesota.

She was a kind, patient, generous person that gave selflessly without expectation of anything in return. She had a light hearted, humorous and adventurous spirit. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her legacy includes having a brilliant mechanical mind and aptitude that flowed into a hobby and love for classic cars. She was a certified scuba diver and enjoyed diving in Key Largo, hot springs and diving parks in Florida as well as other places with her spouse, Martin. Joan spent time with her family, traveling around the United States and world with her family, in addition to “cruising”, with her spouse, Martin. Her sense of adventure, humor and shared knowledge will live on through her children and their families. She will be missed enormously by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, friends and acquaintances. The family extends their appreciation to the wonderful, caring team at The Comforts of Home in Hudson, Wi and supportive care provided by Olive Grove Hospice. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
