JoAnn Marie (Duncan) Beier, age 81 of Hudson died on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at The Denver Hospice In Patient Care Center where she had stayed for a short period of time. JoAnn was born on May 20, 1944 in rural Ceylon, Minnesota; the daughter of Wayne and Marian (Hanson) Duncan. She graduated from Ceylon high school in 1962 and married Donavon Kramer on December 7, 1963. Later, the marriage was dissolved. She attended Northwestern Bible College and earned a Bachelor's Degree. JoAnn and Patsy Nelson started the Northwestern Court Reporting business in the twin city area. She would be united in marriage to Eugene J. Beier at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis on August 7, 1976, and they made their home in Hudson where she helped raise some of Gene's children. Gene died on August 23, 1991, but JoAnn remained in the home. She enjoyed working in places where she could serve others. She worked as a stewardess for sometime and also enjoyed working at Croixdale Senior Living facility. After leaving work, she continued to visit residents who had no family or friends nearby.
JoAnn's faith in Christ played a foundational role throughout her life and was at the center of who she was. Her commitment to Christ led her to mission work around the world. She simply enjoyed helping others which was evident in how she lived her life. JoAnn's hope has always been for everyone to know and have a relationship with Jesus.
Her love for others lead JoAnn to open her home to people she met from Poland and Taiwan that became lifelong friendships. In 2021, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She endured the surgeries, chemo, radiation, but the cancer eventually spread into her bones. Her neighbors, numerous church family members, and friends walked with her and assisted her throughout her journey with health issues. Her FCC Hudson Missional Community group made every effort for her to join in person for regular church gatherings...what a blessing for all.
As her health declined, she was placed on hospice and wanted to stay in her home, but was unable to. She moved in with her nephew, Wyatt's family in Colorado where she continued to get help from The Denver Hospice. To celebrate her life, she leaves behind her siblings and their families: brother Willis (Karla) Duncan, Commerce City, CO, sister Ardis (Rodger) Hotzler, Okabena, MN, sister in law Jean Duncan, Las Vegas, NV; stepchildren and their families: Renee (Dave) Morris, Winneconne, WI, Keith Beier, Fallbrook, CA, Marie (Dana) Robinson, Oshkosh, WI, Tony (Nancy) Beier, Elkhart, WI, and John Beier, Oshkosh, WI.
She is preceded in death by her husband Eugene Beier, parents Wayne and Marian Duncan, brothers Larry and Dale Duncan, sister in law Lois Duncan, stepchildren: Rita, Priscilla, Louise, Margaret, Mike, Paul, Dean, and Jim Beier.
