Joanne Ruth Fulton

Joanne Ruth Fulton, age 71, of Woodbury, Minnesota passed away peacefully on May 15, 2024.

Born on August 9, 1952, in Fargo, North Dakota, Joanne was the daughter of Kenneth and Cleopha (Poole) Massey. Her childhood years were spent in Fargo, North Dakota and Robbinsdale, Minnesota. She graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1970.

On August 19, 1972, Joanne was united in marriage to Thomas Fulton at Sacred Heart Church in Robbinsdale. Together they established their first family home in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. They were blessed with 3 children, Kristine, Elisabeth, and Michael. In 1988 they moved to Hudson, Wisconsin where they operated Twin City East Truck Stop. Joanne and Tom shared over 51 years of love and cherished memories together.

Joanne attended Abbott Northwestern School of Nursing and graduated in 1973. She spent her nursing career working in the neonatal intensive care units at the University of Minnesota as well as Mercy and North Memorial Hospitals. She took great pride in her work as a registered nurse within the hospital setting and enjoyed her experiences as a transport flight nurse transporting NICU babies throughout the state.

Joanne was a loyal Minnesota sports fan, especially of the Minnesota Twins. She took great pride in scoring almost every baseball game on her custom-made score sheets. She was an avid bowler, bowling in 3 leagues each week. Joanne loved the opportunity to try out a few slot machines from time to time and her yearly visits to Las Vegas were always something she looked forward to. She put her creativity to use in a variety of sewing projects including many beautiful pieces of clothing and a variety of home accent items. Joanne took extra special interest in the various activities of her 9 grandchildren and was a very devoted supporter of all their accomplishments. She was a proud Grandma!

Joanne will forever remain in the hearts of her husband Thomas, her children Kristine (Tracy) Anderson, Elisabeth (Jeremy) Franko, and Michael (Desiree) Fulton; grandchildren Jacob and Isaac Grass, Easton Anderson; Emerson, Josephine, Trinity, and Everett Franko; Tucker and Adelaide Fulton; sister Kay (Greg) Becker; brother Robert (Cindy) Massey; sisters-in-law Clare Fulton, Joyce Knutson, and Kathleen (Ron) Underhill; many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents Kenneth and Cleopha Massey; brother Kenneth ‘Jack’(Eileen) Massey, sister Nila (Thomas) Winter; parents-in-law Frank and Ann Fulton; brothers-in-law Robert Fulton and Donald Knutson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11am with visitation one hour prior to service on Tuesday, May 21,2024 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church of Woodbury, 4125 Woodbury Dr. Woodbury, MN. Interment will take place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Hudson, Wisconsin.
