John A. Flatz

John Andrew Flatz, age 52 of Prescott, WI, died peacefully at United Hospital in Saint Paul, MN on Thursday, July 30, 2020. John was born April 9, 1968 in Van Nuys, CA. He grew up in Mound, MN and graduated from Mound Westonka High School with the Class of 1986. John went on to graduate from Dunwoody Institute, getting his degree in drafting. To provide for his family, he worked many jobs while attending school. He was a creative and brilliant man. He was always ready and willing to help friends and family. He was a generous, compassionate and empathetic man. John loved his children unconditionally.

John loved the outdoors: he loved boating, water skiing, fishing, hunting, camping, snowboarding, and snowmobiling.

John was employed by the ENCLOS Corporation as a Project Leader, and was proud to have worked on the World Trade Memorial, Target Field, the new Raiders Stadium, the Bears Stadium, and the Walkway in Chicago. John LOVED the Minnesota Vikings!  He used to say he bled purple. This being said, he was able to provide his dad with much Packer memorabilia.

He moved to Prescott in 2000, built a home, and enjoyed living with his children, Mandy and Andrew.

John was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bud and Irene Flatz, and Cliff and Silvy Horken; his brother, Mike; and his cousin, Chuck Flatz.

John in survived by his parents, Jim and Bobbie Flatz; his daughter, Mandy; his son, Andrew; his brother, Rick; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 8th at 2:00pm CDT. The service will be held virtual/live on the Facebook page for Joy Lutheran Church of Prescott, WI. https://www.facebook.com/Joy-Lutheran-Church-115878425117751  Services are being officiated by Pastor Steve Meyer from Joy Lutheran Church. Interment will take place at the Newport Cemetery, Newport, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Memorial Garden at Joy Lutheran Church in Prescott, WI.
