John Francis Freese, age 80, of Roberts, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
John was born in Hastings, Minnesota, on October 1, 1944, to Ralph “Bud” and LaVina “Vi” (Newman) Freese. After graduating from Baldwin-Woodville High School in 1962 he joined the Air Force. It was during his time in the Air Force that he was sent to Bloomington, Indiana, where he met his future wife, Nancy Doyle. John and Nancy were wed on February 13, 1965.
After John proudly completed serving his country in the Air Force, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls with a degree in mathematics and went on to work in the computer science field until he retired in 2005.
During their 60 year marriage John and Nancy welcomed 2 daughters.
John loved reading, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and playing cards. He enjoyed spending time with his children and family, especially if it involved blowing bubbles. He had a sense of humor that was appreciated and inherited by many.
John will remain in the hearts of his wife Nancy, his daughters Denise (Gene) Perry, Kathy (Nick) Bennig, his grandchildren Mindy Perry, Stephanie (Matthew) Thompson, Summer Blodgett, Nathan Bennig, Connor Bennig, his great grandchildren Noelle Thompson, Selah Thompson, Reba Blodgett, his brothers Ron (Kathy) Freese, George Freese, and many nieces, nephews, other family, friends, and neighbors.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at 1:00PM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 502 County Road UU, Hudson, WI. Memorial service to follow at 2:00PM.
