John Jay Whitegon

John Jay Whitegon, 71, of Hudson, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 16th, 2025 with his wife and daughter at his side.

John was born on December 26th, 1953 in Topeka Kansas to Virginia Burgoyne and Bill Whitegon. John’s family relocated multiple times during his childhood between various cities in Kansas and Colorado. John graduated from Golden High School in Golden, Colorado in 1972 and then served a four year apprenticeship in carpentry.

Although working the majority of his career as a commercial construction superintendent, John was a skilled craftsman and woodworker and owned his own cabinetry business in Colorado. He and his father in law built a home in Negaunee, Michigan where the family resided for six years before relocating to Hudson.

John worked for several construction companies in the Twin Cities: Amcon Construction, Rochon Construction, and Overland Builders from 2001 until his retirement in 2015.

John is survived by his wife, Kathy, of Hudson, daughter, Maija, and partner Evan, of Robbinsdale, MN, sister in law Susan Rossberg (Keith) of Chassell, MI, Lori Voss (Mark), of Hudson, WI, nephew Shawn Rossberg of Chassell, MI, nephew Ryan Voss and niece Lauryn Voss of Hudson, WI and a step sister Cathey Whitegon and family of Topeka, Kansas.

John was preceded in death by his mom, Virginia, step dad Fred Armendariz, father, Bill Whitegon, mother in law Bertha Rossberg, father in law, Jack Rossberg, sister-in law, Linda Rossberg and many other aunts and uncles.

A visitation (10am) and service (11am) will be held on Wednesday April 23rd at 10am at Shepherd of the Valley Afton, MN.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family requests any memorials be given to Shepherd of the Valley (Afton, MN), Minnesota Teen Challenge or the Salvation Army.
