Jon Mcgregor

Jon McGregor age 75 of Hudson, formerly New Richmond died August 17, 2019 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul following complications of a heart attack. Jon was born on May 23, 1944 in St. Paul, Minnesota; the son of Lawrence and Vera (Sarver) McGregor. He was raised in New Richmond where he graduated from high school. He would further his education at the University of Wisconsin- River Falls. In 1965, he would be married to the former Eleanor Gowan to which children Kristen and Eric were blessed. This union would later dissolve. Jon worked many years in the automotive industry. He enjoyed his job meeting new people and making friends as a salesman for Factor Motor Parts in Eagan.
Jon was all about the outdoors. He loved time spent on Perch Lake, tinkering around their land. A perfect day would have involved a little wind and sail boating. He enjoyed cross-country skiing and competed in the Birkebeiner race several times. He was an avid bicyclist who owned his own bicycle shop years ago. If he didn’t bike twenty-five miles in a day, it wasn’t biking!
Jon is survived by his son Eric McGregor of Hudson, grandchildren Mason, Ellie, Jackson; son-in-law Chuck Linehan of River Falls; siblings Jim (Nila) McGregor of New Richmond, Jerry (Barb) McGregor of Henning, MN, Jeff (Donna) McGregor of Anoka, MN, as well as his nieces and nephews. His daughter Kristen Linehan sadly precedes him in 2017.
A time of remembrance for Jon McGregor will be 6 to 8pm with a brief prayer service at 8pm, Wednesday August 28th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson. Interment will be private. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family.
