Joseph Carlson

Joseph W. Carlson, “Poppy” to his grand and great-grandchildren, of Hudson, WI, passed away at the age of 85 on September 29, 2021, after his fight with cancer.

Born in 1936 in Brooklyn, NY, to George and Marion Carlson, he is survived by the love of his life for over 65 years, Judith Carlson; his children, Joseph Jr, Patricia (Doug), Christopher (Carol), and John (Connie); his 9 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. As the oldest of three children, he also leaves behind his sister, Catherine.

Joe joined the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17 and served for 3 years. From that point he attended college at night and started a life-long career working in the insurance industry that culminated as a co-founder/owner of LifeUSA. Joe and Judy traveled all over the world and particularly enjoyed traveling by cruise ships. Upon retirement, the St. Croix River became a focal point of where they lived and welcomed both family and friends. He loved gardening and was a master gardener.

Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joe’s name to the American Cancer Society.
