June (Porter) Waldroff

June Maxine (Porter) Waldroff, age 89 of St. Joseph Township, Wisconsin, died March 5, 2019 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.

June was born on June 12, 1929 in Roberts, WI, to Jesse and Aurrybelle (Wells) Porter. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1947, and attended school in River Falls to earn a teaching certificate. While attending a country school dance, June met Lloyd Waldroff. The two began courting and were later engaged. On January 7, 1950 the two were united in marriage at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hudson, Wisconsin.  This marriage would be blessed with three children, Becky, Jeff and Lori. The Waldroff family would settle on the family farm. In retirement, June worked at Pizza Hut for 17 years.

June was known for her cooking, and loved making meals for her family and friends. She was fond of listening to music and vegetable gardening; everyone loved her canned sweet corn and homemade pickles. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing softball and attending dances with Lloyd. She had traveled all over the United States and relished in the memories of visits to Branson, MO, Washington D.C., and Gettysburg.

June is survived by her children, Becky (Gerald) Christiansen, Jeff Waldroff, and Lori Waldroff; grandchildren, Tom Christiansen, Tricia (Christopher Mick) Christiansen, Chad (Jessica) Waldroff and Kasey Lindstrom; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jadyn and Teddy; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; daughter-in-law, Robin; her parents; step-father, Ben Lindemann; siblings, Ray, Frank and George Porter, and Betty Johnson.

A celebration of June’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9that the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Burkhardt, WI.  A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, as well as   one hour prior to service at the church on Saturday. Interment at the Houlton Cemetery.
