Karyn Dunn Obit

d. September 11, 2021

Karyn Victoria Dunn, age 77, of Spring Valley, WI and formerly of Ellsworth, passed away unexpectedly at her residence. She was born on June 20, 1944 to Walter and Marie (Puhalski) Domoracki in Chicago, Illinois.  Karyn graduated from Highland Park (IL) High School with the class of 1961. On September 15, 1962 Karyn was united in marriage with Michael Dunn, the love of her life, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Highland Park, IL. Their marriage blessed them with two children, Michael and Matthew.

Karyn’s greatest passions began with caring for others, especially her children.  She really enjoyed being a mother and grandmother.  She loved cooking and baking for everyone and making gifts for people for no other reason than to be kind.  She loved living in her apartment in Spring Valley and enjoyed her neighbors and gifting them many baked goods.  Karyn particularly enjoyed her many phone calls with her beloved granddaughter, Julia especially when it was sharing recipes with each other.  She was very patriotic and never shied away from a political conversation with people – especially her sons. In the quiet times she enjoyed reading and solving crossword puzzles with her bird “Crickie” perched on her shoulder.  Throughout Karyn’s life, she and her husband Mike owned many businesses from taverns (The Hitching Post) to appliance sales & repair (M&M Sales). Karyn had a soft spot for animals owning many over the years.  She was very devout and involved with many functions over the years at St. Francis Church. She will be greatly missed by all who got to know her throughout her life.

Karyn will forever remain in the hearts of her sons: Mike (Sandy) Dunn, and Matt (Yleana) Dunn; her only grand-daughter: Julia; her twin sister: Kathy Lamar; nieces (who she considered “daughters”): Karyn, Annie, Janet, Linda, and Sandra; friend & “daughter” Cashmere Fria; dozens of other nieces, nephews, brothers & sisters in law; countless friends and acquaintances. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike; her parents, Walter and Marie Domoracki.
