Kristine Reena Peterson

June 13, 1961 — September 19, 2025

Hudson

Kristine Reena Peterson, age 64, of Hudson and formerly of Seattle, Washington, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her mother and close friends, on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Christian Community Home in Hudson.

Kristine was born on June 13, 1961, in Fairmont, Minnesota, the daughter of Robert and Marlene (Parker) Peterson. In her early years, she was raised in Fairmont before the family moved to Hudson, where she graduated from high school in 1979. She went on to further her education at St. Cloud State University and the University of Wisconsin–River Falls, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in computer science.

After a trip to the West Coast to see Mount Rainier, Kristine knew Seattle would one day be her home. She moved there and worked in the shipping industry as a logistics manager for companies including Sunrise and FESCO. She settled in quickly and became a loyal Seattle Mariners and Kraken fan, though she always held a special place in her heart for the Twins and the Wild.

Kristine’s passion was the sea, and she spent countless hours volunteering at the Seattle Aquarium. Her love for orcas and river otters was evident in her home décor — and now, we lovingly say, she swims with the orcas. Another of her passions was photography. Her home, and that of her parents, displayed countless photos capturing nature in its raw beauty — lighthouses, waterfalls, mountains, and anything that could grace a canvas. Her volumes of photo albums reflect this devotion.

She also enjoyed quilting, lovingly creating quilts for those who held a special place in her heart. Kristine was an excellent golfer, playing Junior Golf in her youth and later treasuring trips to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to golf with her parents and family. She loved game nights with friends and family (especially backgammon), listening to Christian music, and cozy evenings on the couch watching movies on the Hallmark Channel. Above all, the apple of her eye was her goddaughter, Kristina, of whom she was so very proud.

Kristine will remain in the hearts of her mother, Marlene; brother-in-law, Dave Klatt; nephews Nicholas (Nicole) Klatt and their children, Leah and Dani, and Cody (Sara) Klatt; goddaughter, Kristina; uncle, Robert Parker; aunt, Ann Peterson; and sisters-in-heart Pam Clark, Diane Mayse, Nancy Quick, Sally Pitchford, and Kathy Fairbanks, along with numerous cousins whom she cherished.

She is reunited in heaven with her father, Robert; her beloved sister, Janell Klatt; and many aunts and uncles including Lee Parker, Donald (Patsy) Parker, Clarice (Butch) Schaller, Mary Ellen (Roger) Mathwig, Karen (Jerry) Cox, Donald (Lola) Peterson, and Clifford Peterson.

A Celebration of Life for Kristine will be held on Thursday, September 25, from 4:00 to 5:45p.m., concluding with a prayer service, followed by burial at Willow River Cemetery in Hudson.

Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family, who will use them to honor and carry on her passions in life.

Cremation and memorial services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.
