Maiden Rock

Larry Marvin Gilbertson, age 83, of Maiden Rock, Wisconsin, passed away on June 7, 2026, in Plum City, Wisconsin. He was born on September 26, 1942, to Marvin Willard Gilbertson and Wilma Mae Gilbertson.

Larry grew up and lived in the Maiden Rock area all of his life. He graduated from Plum City High School. Following graduation, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army and served his country with honor. After his military service, Larry worked a variety of jobs before finding his place working at the Lock and Dam in Welch, MN, where he retired after 22 years.

Larry was a true people person who never met a stranger. He enjoyed visiting with others and had a gift for making friends wherever he went. He found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time outdoors, whether hunting deer, tending a wood fire, or simply enjoying the peace of nature. Riding his motorcycle gave him a sense of freedom that he cherished throughout his life. Larry was especially proud of his service to his country and carried that pride as a veteran for over 40 years of his life.

Above all, Larry was a caring and devoted brother. He treasured the time he spent with friends and loved ones. His warm personality, friendly conversations, and genuine kindness will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Larry is survived by his siblings: Lamoine Gilbertson of Red Wing, MN, Carleen (Donald) Gilles of Waupaca, WI, Randy (Deb) Diesing of Prescott, WI, Rickey (Sara) Diesing of Arkansaw, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step father Francis Diesing; brother Duane Gilbertson and great nephew Gabriel Sabelko.
