Laura J. Rawlings, age 48, of River Falls, WI, passed away on April 13, 2021 at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN, after a battle with cancer.
Laura was born on October 12, 1972 in Minneapolis, MN to Howard and Marjorie (Asleson) Rolseth. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at Metro State University – Saint Paul.
Laura was a kind, curious, determined, and loving person. She was passionate about helping others and doing good for those around her. She had a real love for learning new things and keeping her mind stimulated. Her hobby was trying new hobbies – from calligraphy, to wood turning, furniture making, motorcycles, and crocheting. She sometimes travelled frequently for her job, and when staying in new cities for extended periods of time, she often signed up for the local community education classes, bringing her new talents and projects home when she returned. Laura also had a love for rescue animals, giving special love to elderly cats who otherwise wouldn’t have been adopted. Her gracious heart led her to be a strong supporter of women entrepreneurs all over the world, investing in countless women to help them succeed.
She is survived by her husband, David; son, Henry; mother, Marjorie (Harvey) Wige; siblings: Amy (Paul) Gustafson, Eric (Amy) Rolseth, and Sara (Justin) Nilson; parents-in-law, Pat & Linda Rawlings; brother-in-law, Kevin (Mona) Rawlings; beloved rescue pets, Luna & StanLee; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers.
She is preceded in death by her father, Howard Rolseth.
Private family services for Laura will be held. For those interested in giving a memorial, the family requests that they invest in a cause dear to Laura’s heart, Kiva, an organization that provides micro-loans to women entrepreneurs all around the world. See www.kiva.org for more information.
