LaVern Linse, age 81 of Hudson died Saturday March 5th 2016 at the University of Minnesota Hospital following a brief illness. LaVern was born on May 5, 1934 in Mondovi, Wisconsin; the son of Clarence and Florence (Morinksi) Linse. He was raised in Mondovi, graduating from high school in 1952. LaVern attended the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire on a football scholarship, receiving his bachelor degree in engineering. While in college, On February 13, 1954, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Carol Jean Becker.

LaVern began a rewarding and fulfilling career with 3M. With an inquisitive and determined frame of mind, LaVern helped develop many products and patents still in use today! LaVern loved his family and grandchildren. He had a great admiration of the outdoors. He always kept the birds, deer and wildlife fed. An avid fisherman, he loved jumping in his boat and spending a day on the lake catching bass. He was very handy as he built his own house; including the wiring and plumbing. Earlier in life, Carol and LaVern owned Cape Cod Antiques. They were fortunate to share many travels together, traveling across the United States and Europe.

LaVern will be fondly remembered by his son, Steven Linse; daughters, Debra Linse and Tammie (Bill) Linse-Worman; grandchildren, Emily & David Worman; siblings Dean Linse, Bill Linse, and Gary (Ruth) Linse. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Carol. A special thank you to the Comfort Keepers Team; especially Kristin, Katie, Andy, and Laina who cared for dad with dignity and love.

Funeral service for LaVern will be 1PM Thursday, March 10th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson. Interment will take place in the Willow River Cemetery of Hudson. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at O’Connell’s Thursday. Memorials preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church on Stillwater.
