Leland LeRoy Persells, age 85 of Gordon, formerly of Hudson, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth. Leland was born on June 13, 1933 in North Hudson, to Lawrence and Emma (Clementson) Persells. He graduated from Hudson High School and worked at Andersen Windows for 37 years. Leland served in the U.S Army and was deployed in South Korea for two years. Leland married Dolores Polenske on June 17, 1961 and they spent a loving 50 years together before Dolores sadly passed away. Leland would find love again in Marge (Bosley) Biscobing, the two were married on October 14, 2012. Leland was a skilled woodworker and enjoyed making cedar chests, clocks, baskets, trivets, and many trinkets. He also loved collecting cars and would go to car shows often. Leland enjoyed traveling across the United States and visited all but Hawaii. They loved spending their winters in Edinburg, Texas. Leland will be remembered for his sense of humor and generosity, he was the kind of guy that truly cared about others. He will remain in the hearts of his wife, Marge; sister, Karen (David) Linehan; nephews, Dennis (DeAnn) Persells, David (Cheryl) Persells, Matt (Simone) Linehan, and Mike (Jana) Linehan; nieces, Cheryl (Don) Fischer and Kerry (Doug) Marsh; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Dwaine and Dale.
A memorial service for Leland will be at 1 pm on Friday, April 26, 2019 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to express their gratitude to all the nurses and staff at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN for their excellent care.
