Lenore E. Laventure

Lenore E. LaVenture (nee: Riebe), age 87, of Houlton, WI, passed away on January 21, 2016 at the Golden LivingCenters – Greenly in Stillwater, MN.

Lenore was born on August 27, 1928 in Lake Elmo, MN to Herman and Elise (Rust) Riebe. She attended District 13 Elementary School in Stillwater, and was a graduate of Stillwater High School, class of 1946. For many years, Lenore was a bookkeeper.

On June 24, 1950, she was united in marriage to Howard A. LaVenture at St. Charles Catholic Church in Bayport. Their union would be blessed with three children: Lori, Joni, and Joel.

Lenore was a book lover and she could open up her own romance novel library with the number of books she collected and read. Her loving heart took care of many stray cats at their home, and she enjoyed watching and caring for the birds. Lenore was known for faithfully sending cards for every event, never forgetting a birthday, Christmas, anniversary, or event. She took great pride in showing love to those near and dear to her.

She is survived by her husband, Howard LaVenture of Houlton, WI; children: Lori Patrick of Houlton, WI, Joni Tennant of Stillwater, MN, and Joel (Deb) LaVenture of Hudson, WI; grandchildren: Meggan (Brandon) DuCharme of St. Croix Falls, WI, Daniel (Jenna) Patrick of Houlton, WI, Ashley LaVenture of Chandler, AZ, Jeremy LaVenture of Fridley, MN, Daniel Dodge of St. Paul, MN, and Cody Tennant of Stillwater, MN; along with extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and nine siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at St. Charles Catholic Church, 409 3rd St., Bayport, MN, with a visitation held one hour prior to the Mass at church. Interment at Houlton Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to St. Charles Catholic Church or Houlton Cemetery.
