Leona was born May 31, 1928, the daughter of Benjamin and Grace (Jackman) Gedatus, in Gilman Township, Pierce County. She graduated The Class of 1946.
Leona was united in marriage to Virgil "Bill" Wang on October 4, 1952 in Menomonie, WI with her brother Wayburn and wife Elizabeth by her side. Leona and Bill farmed for several years. Bill worked for St. Croix County Hwy Dept. and Leona took pride in milking her cows and harvesting crops. Her mother Grace made her home with them for 16 years. Her nieces and nephews were her children.
She loved the farm life and helping others in need. She enjoyed watching the birds and geese as they flew by her home. Polka music and dancing brought joy to her life. Her bible study group at Zion Lutheran Church became part of her family along with Pastor Keith.
Leona moved to Woodville in 2005, from her home of 53 years, and finally had a garage for her prized Oldsmobile. She shared numerous cups of coffee with her neighbors and friends. She enjoyed watching the neighborhood children at play and loved the sound of their laughter.
In 2004, Leona was diagnosed with cancer. In 2012, her faith never yielding, she moved home with her niece, Lori Holldorf. Leona was a one-of-a-kind care-giver. She was a gracious, honest and loving lady who was so proud of her family. She is loved by all who knew her.
Preceding her in death were parents, Benjamin and Grace (Jackman) Gedatus; husband Virgil "Bill" Wang; three brothers: William, Wayburn, and Virgil Gedatus; brothers-in-law: Leonard Gunderson and LeRoy Campbell; sister-in-law Elizabeth Gedatus.
