The Lord called his faithful servant Lloyd Doornink home to rest on May 3, 2026. Lloyd was born on May 24, 1937 to William J and Dena (Meyer) Doornink in Baldwin, Wisconsin and was raised on a farm northeast of Baldwin.
He graduated from Baldwin High School in 1955. After graduation, he worked as a welder for United Refrigerator in Hudson, WI for 2 years. Lloyd spent the next 50 years as an auto mechanic for Zillmann Chevy-Olds/Jacobson Pontiac. Lloyd loved fixing cars and never wanted to retire.
On June 27, 1958 he married Joann Lokhorst. They were blessed with 4 children. They lived on a hobby farm east of Baldwin, where Lloyd raised chickens, chinchilla rabbits and eventually young heifers while working full time. After 25 years at the farm, they built a new home in Baldwin. This was their home for the remainder of their lives.
Lloyd loved his Lord, was devoted to his church and served in many ways. He cherished and loved his wife Joann, and became her care provider during her medical challenges and through the rest of her life. One would often see them walking together, holding hands, as he helped her along. He missed her greatly during the last 3 years, as well as struggled with his own increasing health concerns. Lloyd loved gardening, yard work, men’s morning coffee, working on family/friends’ vehicles or fixing anything mechanical, playing cards, fishing, traveling, visits with friends and family, and regularly attending his kids/grandkids sporting activities. He loved to laugh and joke and had a big heart.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents William & Dena and his wife Joann. He was a beloved Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather who will remain in the hearts of his children: Jeff (Patti) Doornink of Cottage Grove, MN; Carol (Dale) Rasmusson of Chaska, MN; Cherie (Doug) Egedy of Ann Arbor, MI and David (Jane) Doornink of Glen Carbon, IL. Grandchildren: Matt, Greg (Julie) & Sarah Doornink, Tim (fiancée SamiJo) Boland, Kyle (Ann) & Scott (Nicolle) Rasmusson, Kevin & Eric (Ashley) Egedy & Lindsie (Jake) Merz, Nicole (Mina) Rady & Zach (Alexandra) Doornink. Great-Grandchildren: Roman Anderson, Kinley Vaars, Lynn, Robert & Charlotte Rasmusson and Brooks Egedy. Brother: Reuben (Dorothy) Doornink.
