Lorraine Hokenson Cowles, widow of the late Ralph Cowles died Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the Baldwin Care Center. Lorraine was born on November 14, 1924 in Upsala, Minnesota; the daughter of Fred and Ruth Hokenson.  Lorraine married Ralph Cowles on November 30, 1945. To this union, three children were born; Darryl, Myren, and Nancy. After a short time in the Twin Cities, they moved to Wisconsin and started farming. In 1959, they sold the cows and equipment and moved to a small hobby farm near Roberts. Ralph was working at the St. Paul, Minnesota Post Office. In 1962, they bought the grocery store in Roberts, which Lorraine managed until early 1972. In 1995, they moved to Texas and made many friends during their nineteen years there. During their retirement, they traveled extensively; Florida, Arizona, and Seattle. Many trips were spent with Scott and his family, as well as AnDee and her family. Lorraine and Ralph loved their grandchildren and spent as much time with them as they could.

Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents; husband Ralph; daughter Nancy; son Darryl; two brothers, and one sister.

Lorraine is survived by her brother Raymond Hokenson; sister Margarite Pitts; son Myren (Karen) Cowles; daughter-in-law Mary Jo Cowles; grandchildren Scott (Leann) Cowles of DesMoines, IA, AnDee (Dean) Flohr of Rosemount, MN, Michael (Amy) Cowles of River Falls, Ruth (Steve) Butzler of Cumberland, Paul Nickel of Turtle Lake, Sarah (Robert) Huebner of Dallas, TX; and thirteen great grandchildren who were her delight!!!

A Memorial Service for Lorraine will be 12PM Noon March 8th at Cross Lutheran Church; 1246 County Road TT in Roberts. Memorials preferred.
