It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Louis Arthur Moegenburg, age 89, who left this world on May 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 4, 1936, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Louis dedicated his life to the passions he loved and the people he cherished. He adored his four children: Mary Jo Moegenburg (Richard Lavallée), Kristen Gunderson (Jeff), Brant Moegenburg (Sarah), Hunter Moegenburg; brother Ron Moegenburg (Cindy) and his three granddaughters: Kaitlyn Nelson, Bailey Nelson, and Samantha McCormick.

Lou realized many dreams— including becoming a teacher and traveling. He was an alumnus of Stout State College (B.S. Industrial Education and M.S. Industrial Education) and Texas A&M University (D. Ed. Industrial Education), with teaching positions and curriculum development far and wide: Menasha Public Schools, University of Wisconsin-Stout, Saudi Technical Development Training Project in Dhahran, and Royal Commission Institute, Yanbu, Saudi Arabia; Northwest Institute of Light Industry, Xianyang, People’s Republic of China; Turkey Ministry of Education, Ankara, Turkey; and WITC Technical College.

Lou was a proud veteran of the US Navy and served as a Damage Controlman aboard the USS Tripoli LPH-10 and a Plank Owner of the USS FORRESTAL CVA-59.

Lou’s commitment to nurturing the potential in others was a testament to his character and compassion. Louis was not just a teacher and coach; he was a guiding light for many young minds, instilling in them a love for the values of teamwork and dedication. He was known for his quotes (ears only boys) and his detailed, lengthy stories.

As an avid fisherman and hunter, Lou embraced the beauty of the outdoors, finding solace and joy in nature's simplicity. He often shared these treasured experiences with his family, friends, and beloved dogs by his side.

He is survived by his loving spouse, Julie Best, who was by his side through life's adventures for over thirty-five years. Together, they created a lifetime of memories, filled with laughter, love, and unwavering support.

The Celebration of Louis Moegenburg’s Life will be held on June 27th, at the American Legion in Baldwin, WI at 3:00 pm with a service at 3:30. A dinner will be provided following the service.

Louis Arthur Moegenburg will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. May his legacy of kindness, mentorship, and love for the great outdoors continue to inspire us all. He we believed that love and faith conquers all.
