Lynn Gunderson

Lynn Gunderson, age 77 of North Hudson, died peacefully surrounded by family on March 5, 2019 at Regions Hospital.

Lynn was born on October 11, 1941 to Olaf and Jessie (Case) Gunderson in Eldora, Iowa. He graduated from Eldora High School, with the Class of 1959. Lynn proudly served his country during the Vietnam war in the United States Army. He returned from the war and on September 10, 1967, he married the love of his life, Jean Clampitt. Their marriage would be blessed with two wonderful children, Tamra and Todd. Lynn spent 42 years working for the Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement. During that time he also spent 10 years as a Police Officer for the Village of North Hudson. Lynn was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.

Lynn was a jack-of-all-trades. He could build and fix anything whether it was mechanical, electronic or structural. Lynn loved anything and everything about sports. He enjoyed watching and cheering on his favorite teams; as a shareholder of Green Bay Packers in addition to the Dodgers. Lynn spent many years as an umpire for youth baseball when his children and grandchildren were young. Lynn adored his five grandchildren, enjoyed watching their sporting events and being involved in all aspects of their lives. Lynn rejoiced in seeing his family succeed. He would do anything for anyone whether it was family, friends or a neighbor in need often doing so behind the scenes without fanfare or acknowledgement needed.

Lynn is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jean; children, Tamra and husband Don Haas, Todd and his wife Deanna Gunderson; grandchildren, Morgan Gunderson (And fiancé, Charlie Atzmiller) Zachary Haas, Charli Haas, Madison Gunderson and Marisa Gunderson; sister, Frances (Leonard) Hughes; as well as other extended relatives and dear friends.
