Marcella W. Hopp

Marcella W Hopp, age 91, mother of 7, passed away at Comforts of Home in Hudson, WI, on Saturday, July 14, 2018. Marcella was born on September 20, 1926, the daughter of Fred and Bertha (Goslar) Eck. She is remembered as a warm and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Marcella Hopp grew up in Charter Oak, IA, where she attended school and later became a teacher. On January 23, 1949 she married Loren Leo Hopp at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, IA.  They made their home farming in Schleswig, IA and went on to have 7 children. In 1974, Loren retired from farming and the family moved to Hudson, WI where they started a new home. Marcella became a devoted member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hudson. Some of Marcella’s passions were baking, quilting, sewing, bible studies, gardening, and spending time with her growing family.

Marcella’s memories live on with daughters: Jacqueline (Brian) Murphy of Hudson, WI., (children James and Lyndsey); Jeanine Hopp of Hudson, WI., Julie (Wolfram) Schubert of River Falls, WI. (children Amanda and Emily), and Jane (Jerry) Bernecker of Rice Lake, WI. (children Eric, Katie and Lorie); sons: Bruce of Woodville, WI. (children Bryce, Jason, Megan, and Andrew); Blaine of Woodville, WI (child Benson); and Brian (Mary) of River Falls, WI., (children Belinda and Becky).Marcella also had 13 great grandchildren that will also live on with her memories and love.

Marcella was preceded in death by parents, Fred and Bertha; husband Loren Hopp; and brothers, Alvin & Fritz Eck.

Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, July 18, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hudson, WI (downtown campus). Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM with service to follow. Interment will be at Willow River Cemetery of Hudson.
