Marcia Kay Mayer, age 78, passed away on August 27, 2018 after a prolonged battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Born on November 28, 1939 in Bayport, MN, Marcia graduated from Bayport High School in 1957. She married Edward Wallace Mayer in 1963 and gave birth to son Edward and daughter Stephanie in 1966 and 1970, respectively. Marcia participated in the development of her husband’s self-owned business, Mayer Aviation, eventually overcoming her fear of flying to become a licensed pilot.  In 1986 she became a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines (later Delta Airlines), from which she retired in 2006. Since the death of husband Ed in 2004 Marcia has resided in Sarasota, FL.

Marcia was a loving mother and grandmother, and devoted sister and aunt, forming close, loving relationships with her nieces and nephews that continued to grow and deepen following the loss of their parents.  She was fond of travel and visited such far-flung places as France, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand with friends and family members.  Marcia will be remembered for her thoughtful, sensitive nature and lively sense of humor.

She is survived by her son Jed (wife Claire Hero) and daughter Stephanie (husband Michael Fischer), her grandchildren Miles and Noah, her nieces Niki and Kerstin, and nephews Scott, Paul, and Philip.

A memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 20 at the O’Connell Funeral Home of Hudson, WI. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment at Willow River Cemetery of Hudson, WI.
