Margaret “Peggy” Rother (Adams) passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her home the afternoon of Sunday, October 26th, 2025.
Peggy was born January 12th, 1953 at St. Charles Hospital in Aurora, Illinois to Al and Ann Adams. She graduated High School in 1971 from White Bear High, but also spent some high school time in Aurora Central Catholic (ACC) and East High School, also in Aurora. For grade school, she attended St Therese and Oak Park for Kindergarten, both in Aurora.
After 35 years, Peggy retired from Red Wing Shoe Company. She started in Purchasing and moved to the Raw Material Warehouse. Prior to Red Wing Shoe, she worked a couple years at Rothchilds Mortgage and 6 years at Northland Mortgage in St. Paul.
Peggy had many hobbies, passions, and community involvement. Besides tending to her flowers, or sitting on the veranda watching the motorcycles go by, or enjoying her “million dollar view” from her back window, some of her community involvement is below.
4-H Busyfinger Leader for about 10 years. She started as a cloverbud leader when her son Todd was 4. After moving to Maiden Rock, she helped Evy Johnson with her son Andy and the Maiden Rock Rockets.
She spent a couple years as a volunteer advocate for the Goodhue Wabasha Sexual Assault Service. She wore a pager for one week every month, on call to talk to or visit a victim.
Several years as announcer for the Summerfest Parade. In 2013 she was Grand Marshall.
She had one term as Trustee for the Village of Maiden Rock. After that was up, she ran against the sitting President of the Village and tied in the machines, but narrowly lost after the absentee votes were counted.
Was on the Peirce County Housing Committee for many years. She was still on it, but there was not much demand for service.
She was a member of both Maiden Rock Seniors and Maiden Rock Area Community Association (MRACA) for 20 plus years. Volunteering for countless community events with these associations.
She was voted the Most Admired Sr. Citizen at the Peirce County fair on August 13th, 2021.
Volunteer Editor of The Maiden Rock Press for 15 plus years. When asked to take over the press, Peggy was initially hesitant, but reluctantly accepted. This became a passion of hers and she grew to love every minute of everything that went into it. She would like to once again thank all the people that provide submissions and make the paper happen. Letters to the Editor was always her favorite part of the job.
Peggy is survived by her boyfriend of 27 years, Roger Field. Children Jason (LeAnne Chudars) Krech, D.J. (Angie) Rother, Todd (Mandy) Rother, and Andy Rother. Grandchildren Jamie Krech, Westyn (Hope) Osburn, Davin Rother, and Amara Rother. Great Grandchild Rowan Krech. Siblings Mary (Jeff) Doyle, David (Patty) Adams, John Adams, Nancy (Larry) Clark, and Joe Adams. Along with too many dear friends to list.
She was preceded in death by parents Al and Ann Adams.
