Margie passed away peacefully the morning of March 14th, 2025, succumbing to a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Margie was born to John “Jack” and Arline McGuire on May 6th, 1955, at Bethesda Hospital in Saint Paul, MN. She grew up in a small home in West Saint Paul, MN, with four sisters, Jeanie, Claudia, Mary, and Ann. She was the middle child in a family of five girls, to which there was much pride. She attended St. Michaels and Henry Sibley H.S, and credited St. Michaels for instilling a strong education that allowed her to succeed throughout her career.
Margie started her career as a legal secretary and used her early positions as a means for working her way up through the field of law. As her career progressed, Margie took every opportunity that was awarded her, taking positions as a Trainer, Applications Analyst, Senior Analyst, Manager of Training and Desktop Applications, and the role of Director of IT, eventually finishing her career as an Office Manager. Huge accomplishments for a lady from a small house in West Saint Paul with only a High School education.
Margie loved traveling and spending time with family. These were her most cherished memories. She especially loved grabbing the grandkids and taking impromptu trips to Lake Superior. She loved agate hunting along its shores and taking in all the pretty scenery around the lake. When she wasn’t travelling to the lake (or even when she was) she loved going to boutique and thrift stores, where she could always find gems hiding in the plain sight. She knew quality when she saw it and would share whenever she found a real gem. She had a knack for figuring out the authenticity of the things she found; she would send pics of the watermarks from the bottom of fine China she’d found and would say, “Isn’t this fun? I got this complete set for $100 and its worth $1000!” During recent years, her trips became Harley rides around Lake Pepin with her husband Mark, they loved hopping on the bike and hitting the open road. She rode on the back of his Harley right to the very end and the two of them would do the same things as always, looking for agates or for thrift store deals. She also grew fond of making jewelry with her granddaughter Taylor, the two of them spent every single Sunday together, often making jewelry or going on the hunt to find trinkets to use in their jewelry. These were the things she loved.
Margie is survived by her husband of nine years, Mark Adams. She is also survived by four children, Charity Unruh, Chad (Michelle) Unruh, Charles (Miranda) Unruh, and Kara Oman, as well as her three grandchildren, Taylor Unruh, Alex Needham, and Austin Unruh. She is proceeded in death by second husband Garrity Oman; sister Jeanie McGuire; and her parents John and Arline McGuire.
