Marie Kruizenga

Marie Kruizenga (nee: Meendering), age 92, of Baldwin, WI, passed away on October 16, 2012 at the Baldwin Care Center.

Marie was born on August 28, 1920 to Wilem and Mary (Van De Vegt) Meendering in Rock Valley, Iowa. On September 16, 1941, she was united in marriage to Eugene Kruizenga in Rock Valley, Iowa, a marriage that would be blessed with five children.

Marie enjoyed sewing, crafting, and crocheting. She also loved to play games and do puzzles. She was a perfectionist when it came to her home and garden, and was well known for her delicious chocolate chip cookies. Most of all, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very important to her and she loved spending time with them and being a part of their lives.

She is survived by her children, Dwayne (Judy) Kruizenga of Woodville, WI, James (Teresa) Kruizenga of Hudson, WI, Carol (Alvin) Hiemstra of Beaver Dam, WI, Mary (Norman) Logterman of Emerald, WI, and Connie (Tom) Schmit of Baldwin, WI; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sister, Henrietta Uittenbogaard of George, IA; sister-in-laws, Leona Kruizenga, Bertha Kruizenga, and Madalyn (Leonard) Hahn; brother-in-laws, Ted Feekes and Simon Post of Iowa, and Melvin (Chris) Kruizenga.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; 5 sisters; 1 brother; 1 grandchild; and brothers and sister-in-laws.

Funeral Service for Marie will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 20 at First Reformed Church in Baldwin, WI, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Pastor Tim Sluiter will be officiating the service. Burial to follow at Baldwin Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the Baldwin Care Center and First Reformed Church Mission Fund.
