John Joseph Marino, age 76, of Hudson, WI, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2020, at Christian Community Home in Hudson.
John was born on February 3, 1944 to Felix and Mildred (Iverson) Marino in Baldwin, WI, and was raised in North Hudson. He attended St. Patrick Catholic School and graduated from Hudson High School. John received degrees in Political Science and Journalism from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls.
From 1966 to 1968 John served in the U.S. Army. After returning home from service during Vietnam, on June 20, 1970 he married his sweetheart Jayme Lee Puterka. He absolutely adored her, always putting her needs first. The two enjoyed traveling together with highlights being Colorado and Hawaii or weekend trips in the cities. John also took the role as uncle to new heights, he loved his nieces and nephews. John was an avid sports fan and was passionate about his Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Twins. He played baseball, was in many bowling leagues, golfed and was involved in the Rotary. John was proud of his Italian heritage.
John was a loan officer for 22 years with First Federal Bank, he also was a night auditor with Fairfield Inn, and even was a greeter at K-Mart for a number of years. He called the Christian Community Home of Hudson his home for nearly eight years.
John is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Jayme; sister, Carole (Merrill) Ohnemus; sister-in-law, Sandy (Randy) Morrissette; brother-in-law, Mike Steele; nieces and nephews: Vicki, Joe, Debi, Chris, Randy, Kathi, Tanya, Stacy, Michelle, Taylor, Zac, Ali, Summer, Kya, Jacob, Mitchell, Alex, Aaliyah, André, River, Vance, Gavin, Elliot, Carter, Rosie, and one on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Frank Marino; infant daughter, Tara; mother and father-in-law, James and Doris Puterka; and sisters-in-law, Judy (Connie) Souza and JoEllen Steele.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September, 21, 2020 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson, with a visitation held one hour prior to the Mass at church. Interment and military honors at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 10:00am.
