Mark Joseph Maes, aged 77 of Glenwood City, WI, passed away on August 2, 2026, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, WI.

He was born on September 15, 1948, to August and Rosella (Klinger) Maes. Mark graduated from Glenwood City High School in 1966. He served as a marine in the Vietnam war and ended his term of service as a sergeant in the military.

After returning from the war, he met his love, Audrey, at Ray’s Bar in Glenwood City; they married in September of 1971. Mark and Audrey lived on a hobby farm and raised 2 children. He was the district manager for Dairyland Seed, Inc. for over 30 years and continued part-time after his retirement, as he loved working with his customers.

Mark had a passion for hunting and fishing, spending many of his days on the lakes and in the woods throughout Northern Wisconsin. He enjoyed hunting elk and fishing in the mountains of Colorado, taking fishing trips in Alaska and off the coast of Florida. Mark loved to joke with everyone and was often found playing cards with his friends. He played softball in his younger years and enjoyed bowling. At home he loved gardening, canning, and cooking.

He is proceeded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Ellen; sister, Madonna; and brother-in-law, Dwight Reese.

Mark is survived by his wife, Audrey (Meyer); daughter, Melissa (Chris) Henry; son, Joe (Amy) Maes; sister, Marlene Kerr; grandchildren, Nickolas and Olivia Henry, Benjamin and Andrew Maes; plus, many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Church in Glenwood City, WI on Saturday, August 8th at 11:00am with visitation held prior to the mass from 8:30 to 10:45am. Military funeral honors and internment at the church cemetery will be held after the mass.
