Martha Wolfe, age 91, of River Falls and formerly of Durand, WI, died on Wednesday evening, December 26, 2018 at her home. Martha was born February 8, 1927 in Circle, MT to parents John and Agatha (Sonsalla) Rybarczyk. Martha earned her teacher’s degree after high school and taught in a one-room school house until she was united in marriage to Roman C. Wolfe on June 7, 1948 in Arcadia, WI. Their union in marriage was blessed with nine children.
Martha worked over 30 years for the Town of Durand as the town clerk, and as a poll worker. She kept busy raising chickens, farming, and gardening. After moving to River Falls in 2009, she joined the annual River Falls Garden Club, participating in the plant sale with her California Wonder peppers. Martha also enjoyed fishing, picnics, church fall festivals, playing cards, bingo, and scrabble. She loved flowers, dark chocolate with almonds, music, and singing in the choir at the Catholic Church in Wilson with Lois. Sunday nights began with “gourmet meals” with the Sowards, followed by “60 Minutes” at Mae’s house. Above all she looked forward to family gatherings. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Martha is preceded in death by her husband, Roman C. Wolfe; parents, John and Agatha Rybarczyk; sons-in-law, Ray Sam and Tim Teeter; sisters, Euphrosine, Veronica, and Dorothy; brother, Dominic and infant brother, Pawel.
Martha is survived by her loving children, Larry Wolfe, Lois Wolfe-Steiner (Doug), Mae Wolfe, Jane Sam (Joe Gieselman), Sue Teeter, Bette Jean Koenen (Joe), Dennis Wolfe (Nancy), Joni Soward (David), Margaret Sviatoslavsky (Andy); twenty-one grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Joe Rybarczyk (Betty); sister, Ann Klement; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Rybarczyk; Carol Olson, Phyllis Leu, and Bernadine Jaszewski; ,as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial for Martha Wolfe will be 11:00 am on Saturday, December 29th at St Bridget’s Catholic Church, 211 E Division Street, River Falls, WI, with visitation one hour prior to Mass at the church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Durand WI. www.oconnellfuneralservices.com 715-425-5644
