Mary Hampton

Mary Hampton, age 83 of Spring Valley died July 25th in the comforts of her home joining her husband, the late Hugh Hampton. Mary was born on August 21, 1942 in Spring Valley; the daughter of Carl and Lucy (Grape) Hanson. She was raised in Spring Valley graduating from high school in the class of 1961. On April 4, 1964 she was united in marriage to Hugh Hampton at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Spring Valley. This union would be blessed with five daughters; LaVonne, Shelly, Paula, Pam, and Carla. She was a homemaker for the most part. She did work outside of the home, however once the girls were grown as a CNA. She worked in home healthcare in the area as well as the Spring Valley nursing home.

She loved playing cards with her treasured friends and everyone. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially flowers. She volunteered her time for Botany Bells & Beaus and was a long time member of the Honey Doers Homemaker’s club. She was active with the Woodville Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughters, Shelly (Don) Ninneman, Paula Hampton, Pam Hanson, Carla (Joey) Johnson; grandchildren, Casey (Kyle) Sutliff, Cody (Rhonda) Ninneman, Donna Hampton, Colton Johnson, Hannah Johnson; great grandchildren, Borden, Boston, Barrett, Cullen, Eldon, Lucy, Kynlee, Mabry, Oaklee, Asher; siblings Bill (Barb) Hanson, Betty (Irv) Pax, Dale Grape; sister-in-law Fran Hampton; as well as several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Hugh, daughter LaVonne, son-in-law Bob Hanson, siblings Howard Hanson, Ruth Rebischke, and several sister & brother-in-laws.

Funeral service for Mary Hampton will be 11:00Am. Friday, July 31st at St. John's Lutheran Church in Spring Valley. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 30th also at St. John's Lutheran Church in Spring Valley from 4PM to 7PM. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family.
