Mary Jensen

Mary Jensen, age 76, passed away on December 1, 2023 with family by her side.
Mary was born on April 25, 1947 in Minneapolis, MN to Gerald and Mary (Campbell) Wilhelmy. Mary graduated from Holy Angels High School and went on to earn a degree in nursing. She worked at Hennepin County Medical Center after she graduated, and it was there that she met John Jensen. John and Mary were united in marriage on December 29, 1967 in St. Paul and together they were blessed with two children, Eric and Christina.
After having children, Mary decided to stay home with her kids and became a full-time homemaker. Her grandkids quickly became the light of her life. She loved to play with them in the pool and made many trips to Disney with them, which she enjoyed just as much as they did. She also loved traveling with her husband and going to the Ordway. Mary was very active at Shepherd of the Valley Church in Afton and was also a member of P.E.O. Mary always knew how to have a good time, loved drinking a glass of wine, dancing to good music, and was also a big cat lover.
She will remain in the hearts of her children Eric (Leta) Jensen of Lakeville, MN; and Christina (Robert) Vorpahl of Mansfield, TX, and her pride and joy, grandchildren Sophia, Brennan, Meredith and Elliot Jensen; Aidan, Jenna and Alaina Vorpahl.
She was preceded in death by her husband John; parents Gerald and Mary; sisters Ann Wilhelmy and Margaret Lien, and best friend Sammy Lyon.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 at O’Connell Family Funeral Home from 3-6pm. Please come casual and as you are, ready to toast MaryBeth. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Feed My Starving Children.
