Mary Elizabeth Johnson

July 17, 1935 - August 26, 2025, age 90, of Hudson, WI. passed away peacefully at The Lodge/ Comforts of Home in River Falls, WI. suffering with dementia for the last few years.

Mary was born in St. Croix Falls, WI. to parents James, Sr., and Katharine Moore. She grew up in St. Croix Falls and then Balsam Lake, Wl. After high school graduation she received her diploma for Rural Teacher Training and taught 6th grade for one year.

On May 26, 1956 Mary was married to Willis (Bill) Johnson and the couple moved to North Hudson, later moving to Hudson where they raised their three daughters. The couple was married 54 years before Willis went to be with the Lord.

Once her children were in school, she worked outside of the home and retired from her job as Finance Department Deputy Assistant at the St. Croix County Government Center.

Mary was very active in her church, 1st Baptist of Hudson, WI., where she made lifelong friends.

Survived by daughters Kathy (Steve) O'Connell, Jean (Curt) Wilhelmson, and Nancy Chrisel (fiancé Cary Rose); 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Irma Felland and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, parents and parents-in-law, brothers James Il, Robert, Gordon, sister Rachel, nephew James Moore Ill, sisters and brothers-in-law.

A celebration of Mary's life will be held on Saturday, October 11th at 2pm at O'Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 11th Street So., Hudson, WI. with a gathering 1 hour prior. Interment will be in Willow River Cemetery in Hudson, Wl. Arrangements by O'Connell Family Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to be used at the discretion of the family.
