Mary Ellen Van Allen, age 80, of Hudson, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2018 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN. She was born on March 9, 1938, in Ellsworth, WI, to Ferdinand and Ollie (Wagner) Ingli. Mary grew up in Ellsworth and graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1956. After high school, she took a bookkeeping job at Pierce Pepin Cooperative where she met the love of her life, John Van Allen, and on August 20, 1960, the couple were united in marriage at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Ellsworth. Mary and John made their home in Glenwood City before moving to Hudson and starting a family. Mary worked as a teller for Tri-County Savings and Loan in Hudson, and later worked at the St. Croix County Courthouse as a bookkeeper and Clerk of Courts. Mary loved spending time with her family and playing with her grand and great-grandchildren. She was fond of feeding and watching birds, reading, and completing word finds and playing UNO and Phase 10 with her family. Mary was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson.

Mary will remain inthe hearts of her children, Kathryn (Bob) Johannsen, Jane Kach, Mary (Scott) Stolper, and Patrick Van Allen; grandchildren, Josh (Brittany) Morey, Jessica (Nic) Alvarez, Emily (Elliot) Nicol, Adam (Anna) Kach, Anna Johannsen, and Paxton Stolper; great-grandchildren, Magnus, Elsa, John, Jenna, Leo; brother, James Ingli; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; and siblings, Joseph Ingli, Dr. Robert Ingli, Elizabeth Bentson, and Dorothy (Dick) LeMay.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson, WI. Visitation will be held and one hour prior to the mass at the church. Interment at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
