It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Matthew Jerome Schieffer, 48, of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Matt was born on February 7, 1978, to Ted and Judy Schieffer of Roberts, Wisconsin. After graduating from St. Croix Central High School in 1996, Matt went on to study Science at the University of Minnesota Duluth and later printmaking at Minneapolis Community and Technical College.
Matt worked as a Collections Consultant both in Minnesota and abroad. He traveled the world, with extended stays in Israel and Eastern Europe. Matt made friends wherever he went; he had the innate ability to strike up a conversation with anyone he met. He was outgoing, intelligent, creative, and hilarious, with a rare wit for spinning an unforgettable turn of phrase.
Matt loved music, fiction, art, and things eccentric and strange. He had a taste for tart cherries, sour beer, and tater tots. He enjoyed rallying mopeds, seeking out adventure, and most of all, hanging with his friends. Some of his fondest memories were spent with his family at the Lincolnwood Resort on Long Lake in Birchwood, Wisconsin, and at home cooling off on hot summer days with an ice-cold Kool-Aid made by his Mom.
Matt will be remembered and missed dearly by his large extended family, including his parents, Ted and Judy Schieffer; sisters, Chauntel Simon, Camilla (Ryan) Johansen; Nephews, Brintton (Emily) Simon, Colton Simon, Zackary Tronrud, and Nickolas Tronrud; Nieces, Addy Simon, Elliana (Malachi) Herbster, and Milena (Carson) Cross; Great-Nephew, Jack Simon; and many Uncles, Aunts, cousins, and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his sister Tonya Schieffer, who died before he was born, his beloved Grandparents, Robert and Lucille Mello and Theodore and Matilda Schieffer.
Memorial arrangements will be shared as they are finalized at a future date.
