Michael Joseph Alexander, age 70 of Emerald passed away peacefully July 23, 2026

Michael was known as a heavy equipment mechanic with a unique knack for fixing things that most would shy away from. He had an extraordinary ability to troubleshoot and repair machinery, turning the seemingly impossible into routine work. If something was broken, Michael was the go-to guy to make it right. 

When he wasn't busy in the shop, you could find him tending to his garden, where his love for flowers truly bloomed. Michael took great pride in his vibrant garden, especially lilies and roses. He had a soft spot for Hallmark movies and read a good western or thriller novel at the end of a long day, losing himself in the pages of his favorite stories. 

He will be deeply missed by his son Joe (Renee) Alexander; his mother Ellen Hurtgen; brother Thomas (Theresa) Alexander; sister Joleen Alexander; brother Kevin (Leigh) Alexander; aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his father Joseph Alexander and his step-father Joe Hurtgen.

Visitation 1-2 PM with 2 Pm Memorial Service Friday July 31 at O’Connell Funeral home, 1010 Newton St. Baldwin. Burial Holy Rosary Cemetery in Cylon.
